What is Valley of the Sun Active 20-30?
The Valley of the Sun Active 20-30 Club is a women’s community service organization committed to
supporting children’s charities. The club consists of professional women between the ages of 20-39.
Valley of the Sun provides its members with an opportunity to live a fuller life through personal growth,
friendship and leadership development while improving the quality of life for the special-needs children
in the community. Valley of the Sun Active 20-30 Club #1028 was established in 1988 and is a regional
division of Active 20-30 International. The Active 20-30 National Office is located in Sacramento, California,
and supports fund-raising efforts on behalf of child abuse charities and non-profit organizations. There
are four Active 20-30 Clubs in the Phoenix area: the Valley of the Sun Chapter is the only club to admit
women to its membership.

What are Valley of the Sun Members Like?
Valley of the Sun is made up of social, gracious, motivated women who are devoted to making our community better.
When we’re not planning a “hands-on” activity for a children’s charity group, we’re still making a difference
in our community. Our members have careers in the fields of education, social work, engineering, sales and
marketing, dentistry, and more.

How Many Members are There?
Today, there are more than 70 Valley of the Sun Active 20-30 members who make a difference in children’s
lives within the Valley on a daily, monthly and yearly basis.

How Often Does the Club Meet?
Meetings are generally held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. The Board of Directors
meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month. Board meetings are open to any member that wishes to attend.
Active members of Valley of the Sun are required to attend 60 percent of the meetings and hands-on activities.
Meetings last approximately 1-1½ hours.

What are the Financial Commitments?
Membership dues of $80 are paid quarterly. The dues are used to support the Club’s operating costs, events,
and meals at formal meetings. National dues of $90 per year (pro-rated for new members) are paid to the National
Active 20-30 in July. An initial fee of $30 (paid one time at the Membership Drive) is collected to cover
administrative costs, formal meeting dinners and introductory packet.

How do I Become A Member?
Prospective members of Valley of the Sun Active 20-30 will be invited to a membership interview (typically 20-30 minutes)
with the membership committee and board members. Following the membership interview will be the Membership Drive held
at Florence Crittenton, which provides prospective members an opportunity to learn more about the club's main beneficiary,
meet the majority of the club members, and learn more about the club. Following the Membership Drive, prospective
members will be required to attend three general meetings, one hands-on event, and a fund-raising tutorial called
VIVA 101 in order to be inducted into the club. At the first Board meeting following fulfillment of these requirements,
the Board will vote the prospective member into membership. Both general membership meetings and most hands-on activities
are located at Florence Crittenton and take place at 6:30 p.m.
